Runtime security for AI agents

Catch the injected instruction before your agent acts on it.

Your agents read tool output, retrieved documents, web pages and email you do not control. A prompt hidden in any of them is an instruction your model will follow. Tawa Guard scans that content first and returns a decision your code acts on: allow, review or block.

Tawa Guard benchmark v13, 17 September 2026. Engine tawa-hybrid-1, every detector under the same thread budget. Benchmark figures, not production figures.

The attack surface

Your agent does what the text says.

An agent that reads a web page, opens a ticket or calls a tool takes in text written by someone else. The model cannot tell your instructions from theirs. Telling it to ignore injected instructions is a request, and a request is not a control.

Tawa Guard treats every one of those inputs as untrusted, scores it, and hands your code a decision before the agent takes its next step.

01

Tool output

Search results, CRM records, ticket bodies and API responses. The agent reads them as fact and follows anything shaped like an order.

/v1/agent/tool-output
02

Retrieved documents

Every chunk your RAG pipeline pulls in is a chance to plant an instruction. One poisoned PDF in a knowledge base reaches every conversation that cites it.

/v1/rag/chunk
03

Web pages and email

Browsing agents and inbox assistants read content written by strangers. Text a person would never notice on the page still counts as an instruction to a model.

Platform

Detect, decide, investigate and operate from one place.

One API call returns the decision. The platform around it gives your security team the policy controls, the evidence and the operational hooks they already expect from a gateway.

Detect

A multi-layered detection cascade: fast heuristics score every input, deeper analysis runs on anything ambiguous, and a calibrated decision comes out the end. All of it fast enough for the request path.

  • Prompt injection, goal hijacking, jailbreaks
  • Obfuscation normalised before scoring
  • Tool abuse and data exfiltration
  • Multilingual input, language detected first

Decide

Allow, review or block, with thresholds you set per surface. Policy Studio turns your rules into versioned policy, with validation and history.

  • Use-case profiles that bundle rules and engine
  • Redact, flag or block PII per source
  • Simulate a rule against recorded traffic
  • Promote and roll back policy versions

Investigate

Every scan keeps its evidence: the detector signals, the rule that acted, the spans it matched in your own input and the raw engine result.

  • Flagged spans highlighted in context
  • Analysis path and phrasing trace
  • Feedback loop for false positives and misses

Operate

A dashboard for live activity and trends, with the exports and controls a security operations team runs on.

  • SIEM export in CEF or JSON to Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel and Elastic
  • Audit logs and custom roles
  • Usage alerts and spend caps
  • Analytics API
How it works

One gate in front of everything your agent reads.

You send each untrusted input to Tawa Guard before the agent uses it. We return a decision and the evidence behind it. With the SDKs, your code decides how to handle it, so there is no proxy to route through. With the proxy, Tawa Guard blocks directly.

01

Send the untrusted text

One call per input, from the HTTP API or one line of the Python or TypeScript SDK. Nothing to host and no model to run.

02

We score it

The default engine's median is 23 ms in-process on our benchmark. Ambiguous inputs cascade to deeper analysis without you asking.

03

You act on the decision

Allow, review or block, with per-category scores, a rationale and a request id you can replay later. With the SDKs, your code decides what happens next.

Benchmarks

Measured, with the conditions stated.

We test on held-out attacks, each rewritten through the evasions we see in the wild, and on public datasets with any row that appears in our training data removed. Every figure carries a Wilson 95% confidence interval.

We run every open detector we compare against on the same machine, the same rows and the same 1% false-positive budget, because a fixed score cut flatters whichever calibration it suits.

Solutions

Built for the people who ship agents and the people who sign off on them.

For platform engineers

Ship the agent without owning a classifier.

One endpoint, typed SDKs and a free tier large enough to run a real workload. Thresholds per surface, so a browsing agent and a support bot get different review floors.

  • Works with any model or provider
  • Request ids on every response
Read the docs
For security teams

Policy you can read, evidence you can hand over.

Author rules in Policy Studio, simulate them against recorded traffic, and promote a version when you are satisfied. Every decision keeps the signals and spans behind it.

  • SIEM export to Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, Elastic
  • Audit logs and custom roles
  • Mandatory two-factor on every account
See the platform
For RAG and knowledge teams

Scan the corpus, not only the question.

Point a knowledge bucket at your documents and we scan each chunk as it is ingested, with PII handled the way your policy says. Poisoned documents surface before a user ever cites them.

  • Per-chunk decisions with span highlights
  • Redact, flag or block PII per source
  • Review queue for borderline content
Knowledge buckets (beta)
Fits where your agent runs

Model-agnostic, provider-agnostic, framework-agnostic.

Tawa Guard scores text. It does not care which model reads it afterwards, which cloud you run on or which agent framework you chose.

Benchmark v13: four open detectors on the same machine

Nine datasets, 14,865 rows per engine, four open detectors and two rules. Every detector gets the same thread budget and the same false-positive budget. Here is what the numbers look like when nothing is tuned in our favour.

Why detection quality is never gated by plan

Every plan gets the same engines and the same verdicts. What changes between plans is reach, volume and how much of the analysis you can read afterwards.

Getting the most out of Tawa Guard

What to decide around the scan call: what each error costs on each surface, how a flag should change what the agent can do, and how to check the numbers on your own traffic.
